Musical Performance and Social Mixer in Scottsdale
Join the Cornell Club of Arizona and Ivy Council at a social mixer and musical performance. Pianist Seth Kaufman (Cornell University '94) is one of our most talented local alumni who has been performing and recording his own solo piano compositions since his days as an undergraduate at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He continued to develop his sound to include more of a jazz and percussion influence while attending Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kaufman's style has been said to "push the piano's limits" (Times Picayune, New Orleans) and his music is regularly featured on WYNC New Sounds with John Schaefer. Kaufman's works are often inspired by silent film and experimental theatre and his wide range of influences is on display on his five albums, Cascadilla (1993), The Blue Light (1994), Circling Noon (1996), Red Descending (1999), and Compartments (2007). Recruited from Massachusetts General Hospital in 2005, Seth Kaufman currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he is a practicing neurologist. Seth will have CDs available for sale at this event.
