Penn Alumni Online Book Club

Looking for a great read? Did You Know…that Penn offers two opportunities to not only discover a great book, but also to connect with fellow alumni?

The Penn Alumni Career Networking Book Club is a virtual community, organized through LinkedIn, that features books related to professional development and personal growth topics. This book club started in October 2016 and has already featured The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business, by Charles Duhigg.  You can register today for the second book, Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose, by Tony Hsieh. Your second opportunity is a brand new initiative, launching next month, called the Penn Alumni Reading Club. In the spirit of Ben Franklin, who in 1727 formed a club for those sharing his enthusiasm for learning and conversation, Penn Alumni Education invites you to join the Penn Alumni Reading Club. Each month, a different Penn faculty member will select a book or article he/she has written and/or teaches and lead a discussion of the work. The event will run on-campus and online simultaneously, offering alumni across the globe the opportunity to pose questions, think critically, and engage intellectually with world-renowned faculty members and fellow Quakers. The first event take place on February 28, 2017, and will be led by Dorothy Roberts, focusing on her book Fatal Invention: How Science, Politics, and Big Business Re-Create Race in the Twenty-first Century.
