Life-saving Sniffs

Ivey, a 2-year-old German shepherd, is learning how to sniff out cancer at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center. It’s all part of a wider effort to develop an electronic nose capable of detecting disease. “If we can help recognize this cancer early, we will save lives. And we just have to get the machines as good as the dogs,” says the Center’s director, Cindy Otto, in an interview with “Good Morning America.” (Video)

On November 16th, we will have the opportunity to meet at least two of the amazing dogs trained at Penn's Working Dog Center.  There are now six Penn-trained dogs owned by the Phoenix Fire Department, and we will host a family-friendly event where we will see the Search-and-Rescue dogs in action.  SAVE THE DATE!
