University opens Roberts Proton Therapy Center
Largest and most advanced proton therapy center
Did You Know…
that Penn Medicine celebrated the opening of the Roberts Proton Therapy Center this November? The Center, part of the Abramson Cancer Center, is the largest and most advanced proton therapy facility in the world, with the capacity to treat about 3,000 patients a year. Due to this groundbreaking treatment option, patients will be treated by a precise form of radiation therapy, which is especially well suited for treating cancers in the brain, head, neck, eye and spinal cord, and in hard-to-reach organs such as the liver, pancreas, and esophagus.
Penn Medicine has partnered with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in order to provide pediatric cancer patients and U.S. military service members and their family members access to treatment in Roberts Proton Therapy Center.
