of BAR-S Foods
Timothy
T. Day, Chairman, CEO and principal founder of BAR-S Foods Co. will talk
about entrepreneurship and the founding of BAR-S Foods Co. He will discuss
his preparation for this undertaking; the events leading up the founding of
BAR-S; the stages of evolution as a company; the company today with some key
performance indicators; how it is performing in this recessionary environment;
and, lessons learned about entrepreneurship along the way.
With sales of
approximately $500 million, BAR-S Foods Co. is a significant factor in the
processed meat industry with substantial market share throughout the United
States It is one of Arizona’s largest privately held businesses. The Corporate Office
is in Phoenix; manufacturing and distribution facilities are in
Oklahoma; and regional sales offices are located across the
country.
Prior to
founding BAR-S, Tim served 13 years with General Host in various executive
positions including Group Vice President of Operations, Vice President and
Treasurer, Vice President of Acquisitions and Corporate Planning Corporate Executive Vice President and President of its largest subsidiary,
Cudahy Company.
Tim is past
Chairman of the Goldwater Institute, Greater Phoenix Leadership and the Arizona
Chapter of the Young President’s Organization. He was named an “Entrepreneurial
Fellow” by the University of Arizona in 1991 and selected as “Master Entrepreneur Of The Year”
for the southwest region by the Entrepreneur of the Year Institute in
1992.
He earned a
B.A. from Wesleyan
University in 1959 and an M.B.A. from
Harvard
Business
School in 1964.
An
autobiography, “One Day’s Journey – The Life and Legacy of Timothy T. Day", was
published in 2005.
