Penn leads in Green initiative

Penn is named one of the top 15 schools

Did You Know

that the University of Pennsylvania has been named one of the top 15 schools in the U.S. and Canada for its sustainability initiatives?  The survey of 300 institutions was done by the Sustainable Endowments Institute for its College Sustainability Report Card, www.GreenReportCard.org.

“Penn’s high mark on the College Sustainability Report Card reflects our commitment to increasing our environmental sustainability through such measures as wind-energy purchase, carbon reduction, recycling and green building programs,” Penn President Amy Gutmann said.

Two other Green developments at Penn:

On September 22nd the University held a dedication of the green roof replacement atop Kings Court English House that now features a perimeter of low maintenance, weather resistant greenery surrounding an upgraded patio adjacent to an existing penthouse.  For more info please see: http://www.upenn.edu/pennnews/article.php?id=1448

Before this fall semester began Penn and the Fox Leadership Program launched a new program: The PennGreen Initiative trained students to lead an environmentally conscious culture on Penn’s campus.  To learn more about the new PennGreen Initiative and it’s future plans please see: http://www.upenn.edu/pennnews/article.php?id=1431

It’s not easy being Green…but it’s worth the effort
